Act-On Named a Top Trusted Website in OTA’S 2016 Online Trust Honor Roll

Act-On Software made placement on the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) 2016 Online Trust Honor Roll, an annual audit recognizing businesses for their leadership

Act-On.Com Recognized for Excellence in Consumer Protection, Data Security, & Responsible Privacy Practices for the Fourth Consecutive Year

PORTLAND, OR – June 14, 2016Act-On Software, the leading provider of marketing automation for fast-growing businesses, today announced its placement on the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) 2016 Online Trust Honor Roll, an annual audit recognizing businesses for their leadership across the areas of security, privacy, and consumer protection. This year’s honor is Act-On’s fourth in as many years – proof positive of the company’s continued stewardship of online trust and transparency.

In assembling this year’s report, OTA, a 501c3 non-profit organization that works collaboratively with industry leaders to enhance online trust, completed exhaustive audits of nearly 1,000 different domains and privacy policies, approximately 100,000 web pages, and more than 500 million emails, across multiple sectors: the Internet Retailer Top 500, FDIC 100, Top 100 Consumer Services, Top 100 Media/Content Sites, as well as OTA members and consumer-facing US government sites, to name just a few.

The resulting list proved competitive. Just 50% of businesses audited made the final cut, with few companies gaining ground based only on their sales or overall size. “We’ve seen large e-retailers with significant sales fail to make the Honor Roll, while small-to-mid-size companies took top grades,” says Craig Spiezle, Executive Director and President of the Online Trust Alliance.

As one of only 40 companies audited to make the Honor Roll for four years straight, Act-On continues to distinguish itself as a vanguard in the field of consumer protection, rigorous in its compliance efforts at a time when online privacy remains a paramount concern. Last year’s Honor Roll, for instance, coincided with the drafting of the white House’s Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights, a framework for consumers looking to make informed decisions about the privacy and security practices of sites they frequent.

“As the digital marketplace has evolved, comprehensive privacy management has become increasingly necessary to enabling consumers’ confidence in the channel,” concurs David Fowler, Act-On’s Chief Privacy and Digital Compliance Officer. “We’ve taken our clients and partners’ security needs seriously, and we believe our proactive privacy initiatives – and our rank in this year’s Honor Roll – reflect that.”
