Combine a range of profile attributes:
  • Title
  • Department
  • Location
  • Etc.
With observed behaviors:
  • Visited specific web page(s)
  • Signed up for any webinar
  • Attended a specific webinar
  • Downloaded specific content
  • Etc.
And a specified time frame:
  • 1 day
  • 7 days
  • 14 days
  • ...and so on
For example, you might define a segment as: "Directors of Sales, in New York State, who have attended at least two webinars AND clicked on at least three messages – in the last 14 days." You have a title with buying power, interested enough to attend two webinars, and engaged enough to click on three messages. Maybe it’s the right time to send this group a special incentive to buy now.

Dynamic segmentation keeps segments current

Once you've defined a segment, it becomes dynamic. As your Act-On database adds new prospects, any prospect fitting the profile will automatically be added to the segment, so every time you reach out to that segment, you're reaching all segment members.
